Strange and Unusual Things

CHECKERS???? As anyone who has bought one of my boards or tables will tell you, I generally forbid the playing of checkers on them. However, A good customer asked me if I could provide him with a set of checkers that would be of a quality approaching that of fine chess sets. It turns out that there are no high quality checker set available so I agreed to make a set for him. While I was at it, I made an extra set. These are Ebony and Boxwood, .375" thick and 1.75" in diameter and are stackable. They are nested in a billiard cloth lined Maple and Walnut Burl box with a glass top. The customer's set had a laser engraved monogram on the face of each piece while these are decorated with concentric rings. This makes this a truly "one of a kind" item. Available: $1,250.00

Left and Right:This is basicaly a "Deluxe Inlaid" Chessboard in Purpleheart and Satinwood with 2.5" squares. However, I have added some additional inlay, namely the Satinwood "dots" and Padouk stringing. This is the first step in my quest to find a good way to add rank and file markers. Ultimatly, I hope to have the Satinwood dots laser engraved. There is still some R&D to be done but meanwhile here is another unique board. Available: $1,200.00

Left:This is a four handed board I made for a customer who was working on a variant. The board has 2.5" squares and is made from Padouk, Plain Maple, Purpleheart, Curly Maple and Mahogany. Don't let the picture fool you...this board is HUGE! over 40" across!!
